Dhaulagiri Base camp Trek

The Dhaulagiri base camp trekking is one of the challenging treks in Nepal.  Mount Dhaulagiri (8167 m) is the seventh highest mountain in the world. The most difficult part of Dhaulagiri base camp trek is walking on the snow glacier, walking through high alpine pastures, higher passes and uninhabited valleys. On the way to Dhaulagiri base camp trek we will find ever-changing landscape and numerous picturesque villages and some Passes. Dhaulagiri base camp trekking is a perfect trek for those trekkers who want to experience the real mountainous holidays. This trek offers panoramic views of Annapurna’s and Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, V  and also some other Mountains like Machhapuchhare, Nilgiri, Manaslu and Tukuche.


Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu
After arriving in Kathmandu representative of Nepal Trekking Trial will pick up you by our private vehicle and transfer you to the Hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu
After breakfast in the morning we go for the Kathmandu sightseeing tour. Sight-seeing around Kathmandu valley which includes the Hindu temple, Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old Stupa) and visit Patan city of fine arts and finally back to hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 03: Drive to Beni (830m) 8hrs
On the third morning of our Dhaulagiri base camp trek, we will drive from Kathmandu to Beni (830m). We will ride in the Prithvi Highway where we can get chance to enjoy the changing landscape throughout the journey. First we will reach the city of lakes and from there on we move to Beni. Beni is a beautiful little town of Myagdi district and it will be a perfect place to begin our trek. Overnight in Beni
Day 04: Trek from Beni to Babiyachaur (950m) 5hrs
From Beni our trek starts, we will move from Beni to Babiyachaur (950m), which takes about 5 hours approximately. After some walk we head will towards the village of Simalchaur and from there we will walk for a while to reach Babiyachaur which will be our stay tonight. Overnight in Babiyachaur
Day 05: Trek to Dharapani (1,400m) 6hrs
Today our trek ascends through uphill and the winded valley, further we pass the village named Shahashradhara where we gain some altitude here. After cossing the village we finally reach to the village of Dharapani which located at an altitude of 1,400 meters. Overnight in Dharapani
Day 06: Trek to Muri (1,850m) 5hours
Today we will trek to Muri (1,850m) from Dharapani, which takes about 5 hours approximately. First of all you should cross the river and head to the north to reach Phedi and again the trail moves sharply to the Muri village. Muri is one of the beautiful Magar communities in Myagdi district. Day 07: Trek to Baghara (2050m) 6 hours
Today we will trek to Baghara (2050m) from Muri which takes around 6 hours. On the way we can get chance to have beautiful view of Mt. Ghustung South (6465m). Myagdi Khola is also on the way and from there we will hike down west to the village of Naura and finally leads us to Baghara. Overnight in Baghara
Day 08: Trek to Dobang (2520m) 6hrs
From Baghara we will go down through terraced fields and reach to Jyardan. After crossing the Jyardan, the trail moves on through a forest to Lapshe Kharka and finally we will reach to Dobang (2520m). Overnight in Dobang
Day 09: Trek to Italian Base Camp (3660m) 7hrs
On the ninth day of Dhaulagiri Base camp Trek, we will walk a bit long which takes about seven hours to reach the Italian Base Camp from Dobang. Tukche Peak (6837m), the glimpses of Dhaulagiri-I (8167m) can be viewed from our way to Italian Base camp. Overnight in Italian Base camp
Day 10: Rest day at Italian Base Camp (3660m)
Today we will be spending all our day at the Italian Base Camp, relaxing, resting and acclimatizing. By staying in Italian Base camp we can have mountain views of the entire Dhaulagiri Mountain Range. Overnight in Italian base camp
Day 11: Trek to Glacier Camp
Then today we will start a bit earlier in the morning because weather in morning is far better than in the afternoon. We will have our breakfast early in the morning and resume our trek from the Italian Base Camp to Glacier camp. Overnight in Glacier Camp
Day 12: Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4740m) 6hrs
On the 12th day we finally reach to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4740m) from Glacier camp after walking about 6 hours. To the west you can have a beautiful view of the peaks of Dhaulagiri II and Dhaulagiri V. Overnight in Dhaulagiri base camp
Day 13: Trek to French Col (5360m) Hidden Valley 6hrs
Today the trail can be adventurous as it goes upwards for some of the place and again descends after a while in some of the place. Hidden Valley is particularly known for the wonderful views of the Dhaulagiri and other mountain peaks of the Himalaya. It takes about 6 hrs to reach French col from Dhaulagiri base camp. Day 14: Trek to Yak Kharka (3680m) 6hrs
After exploring in the Hidden Valley, we begin our trek towards the Yak Kharka. It will takes nearly 6 hours to reach Yak Kharka from hidden valley. Overnight in Yak Kharka
Day 15: Trek to Jomsom (2,700m) 6hrs
From Yak Kharka to Jomsom it will take about six hours. The trail is easier one compared to the earlier ones. We will take a rest after reaching Jomsom. Overnight in Jomsom
Day 16: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara
On this day we will take our flight early in the morning from Jomsom to Pokhara . In the leisure day we will explore the natural beauty and the great natural ambience in Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara
Day 17: Drive to Kathmandu 6hrs
From Pokhara we will take a flight to Kathmandu which will take about 30 min. Leisure day at Kathmandu, so you can roam around Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 18: Departure
A representative from Nepal Trekking Trial will transfer you to the airport before two hours from your flight with lots of a hope of seeing you again in the future.

  • Welcome or farewell dinners (depend up to your arrival and departure time)

  • An experienced English-speaking trek leader (trekking guide), assistant trek leader (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and High Altitude trekking local Sherpa porters to carry your luggage (2 trekkers:1 porter maximum weight 20 kg) including their allowance wages ,salary, insurance, equipment, flight, food and lodging expenses during a trek
  • Full board meals BLD ( breakfast, lunch, and Dinner) during the trek as per available food menu in tea houses/Lodges

Not Included

  • Nepal Visa fee USD25 for 15 days, USD40 for 30 days or if extending your stay USD100 for 90 days. All are multiple entries. You will also need a passport photo. The visa fee can be paid in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling or Euros. (bring accurate USD cash and two passport photographs)
  • International flight ticket to arrive in Kathmandu
  • Excess baggage charges( 15kg allowed ok Kathmandu Lukla flight ) 1kg = $1 USD
