Mani Rimdhu Festival Trek

Mani Rimdu festival is the most important festival of the Sherpa people at Tengboche monastery in Everest region. The meanings of “Mani Rimdu” are, ‘Mani’ stands for “part of the chant of Chenrezig” and ‘Rimdu’ stands for small red pills that are blessed and distributed to all who are attended there during the festival. This festival is celebrated during October–November of the Gregorian calendar, in this season due to autumn large number of trekkers visit the Khumbu region to trek to Everest Base Camp and to witness the Mani Rimdhu festival which lasts for nineteen days and concludes with three days public festival. The religious festivities involve meditation and ceremonies. There are plays, masked dances, prayers and feasts during the festival. These are said to depict the battle between Buddhism and the ancient Bon religion. Large number of Sherpas from all over the Everest region attends the festival.


Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu
After arriving in Kathmandu representative of Nepal Trekking Trial associate with Actual Himalayan Group will pick up you by our private vehicle and transfer you to the Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu
After having breakfast we will sight-seeing around Kathmandu valley which includes the Hindu temple, Pashupatinath & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath and visit Patan city of fine arts and finally back to hotel. Overnight in hotel
Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,800m/9,184ft) then trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft)
After breakfast, we will take an early morning flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. Upon our arrival at Lukla, we begin our trek through the village of Lukla until we reach to Phakding which will take about 3-4 hours. Overnight in Phakding
Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)
After breakfast we will began our short trip from Phakding to namche bazaar which is also the gateway to the top of the world, Mt.Everest(8848m).It will take about 5-6 hours approximately . Overnight at lodge
Day 05: Trek Namche Bazaar to Syangboche
After a walk of about 2-3 hours we will reach in Tengboche. While trekking can get chance to have panorama views of Himalayas Kwongde (6187m) Tawache(6542m) Everest (8848m) Nuptse (7855m) Lhotse (8618m) Amadablam (6856m) Thamserku (6608m). Overnight in Syangboche
Day 06: Trek Syangboche to Tengboche (3860m)
Then today we will trek from Syangboche to Tengboche which will take about 3-4 hours. Overnight in Tengboche
Day 07: Trek Tengboche to Dingboche (4350m)
We will start our trek after having breakfast. Today we will trek about 5-6 hours from Tengboche to Dingboche. On the way we will visit the Pangboche monastery. Dingboche is a popular stop for trekkers and climbers headed to Mount Everest, Ama Dablam or Imja Tse. Overnight in Dingboche
Day 08: Trek Dingboche to chhukung (4743m) & Trek back to Dingboche
We will start our trek after having breakfast. Today we will trek from Dingboche to chhukung and again return back to Dingboche. Overnight in Dingboche
Day 09: Trek Dingboche to Lobuche(5018m)
We start the day with pleasant view of mountains. After breakfast we will trek from Dingboche to lobuche which will take about 5-6 hours. Overnight in Lobuche
Day 10: Trek Lobuche to Gorakshep to EBC (5364m) to Gorakshep (5170m)
After breakfast we will trek fom Lobuche to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep. Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. And finally we will trek back to Gorak Shep for a dinner and sleep. Today we will wak about 7-8 hours approximately. Overnight in Gorak Shep
Day 11: Trek Gorakshep to Kalapattar(5545m) and Trek to Pheriche (4280m)
Early in the morning, we will begin our trek by walking to Kalapatthar where we will take our first stop. From Kala Patthar, we will follow the rocky path proceed to Pheriche which will take about 7-8 hours. Overnight in Pheriche
Day 12: Trek Pheriche to Tengboche(3860m)-Opening Day of Mani Rimdu Festival
Then from Pheriche we will trek to Tengboche and attend the opening day of Mani Rimdu festival. It is the most important festival of the Sherpa people. Overnight in Tengboche
Day 13: Sightseeing at Tengboche-Second Day of Festival
Then today on the second day of festival we will sightsee around Tengboche. We will sightsee on different monasteries, Mani walls and also you can enjoy the Sherpa culture. Overnight in Tengboche
Day 14: Sightseeing at Tengboche-Third Day/Ending Day of Festival)
Today also we roam remaining part of Tengboche. The religious festivities involve ceremonies and meditation so we also take part in it. Overnight in Tengboche
Day 15: Trek Tengboche to Manju(2800m)
Then we will trek down from Tengboche to manju. Overnight in Manju
Day 16: Trek manju to Lukla
The trek continues further as we reach Lukla after almost 5-6 hours of trek. We will be staying in Lukla for the rest of the day and prepare ourselves to board a flight back to Kathmandu the next day. Overnight in Lukla
Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu
Fly back to Kathmandu in the morning and transfer to the hotel. The day is free for you to explore the city on your own. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 18: Kathmandu
After having breakfast we will sight-seeing around Kathmandu valley. Overnight in hotel
Day 19: Final Departure
A representative from Nepal Trekking Trial will transfer you to the airport before two hours from your flight with lots of a hope of seeing you again in the future.

  • Nepal Visa fee USD25 for 15 days, USD40 for 30 days or if extending your stay USD100 for 90 days. All are multiple entries. You will also need a passport photo. The visa fee can be paid in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling or Euros. (bring accurate USD cash and two passport photographs)
