Makalu Base Camp Trek

After arriving in Kathmandu representative of Nepal Trekking Trial associate with Actual Himalayan Group will be waiting to receive you. They will pick up you by our private vehicle and transfer you to the Hotel. We will have a short discussion of our trek in the evening with warm welcome dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu

We will have our breakfast in the hotel and pack our bags for the trek. Today we will take 45minutes morning flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar through the Himalayas. As we reach Tumlingtar we will meet our trek crew, have lunch and then drive in 4WD vehicles through a rough road to Chichila. Overnight in Chichila

Today after breakfast, we will start with a gradual uphill climb through the forest for about 2hours and then trail descends by a small river after that, you walk in a flat land for around one hour to reach Num. Num is a small village with many teahouses offering a distant view of Himalayas. Overnight in Num

After having our breakfast we will continue our trek leaving the Num Valley behind us. The trail steeply descends through the forests and terraced fields to Arun River. Crossing a suspension bridge the trail ascends through forests and few villages taking us to the village of Seduwa. There we will see a check post and an office of Makalu Conservation Area. Overnight in Seduwa

After having breakfast we will leave Seduwa. Initially the trail slightly goes uphill but major part of the walk is flat and easy through the bushes. Passing the hillside through quiet villages and small paddy fields we will reach to the village of Tashigaon. Tashigaon is a big Sherpa village surrounded by dense forest with prayer flags fluttering in the wild. Overnight in Tashigaon

Today we will be spending our day in Tashigaon. Acclimatization helps our body to adapt to the environment and reduces the chances of having altitude sickness. We will be exploring the surrounding for few hours and we will take rest preparing for the next day’s trek. Overnight at Tashigaon.

After having breakfast we will start the walk through the dense forest and after a gradual uphill climb we will arrive to a sort of alpine meadow. After having lunch we will climb to a ridge and finally arrive in a grazing area at Kauma Kharka. Overnight in Kauma Kharka

Today after we have our breakfast we will start with a vertical climb towards the summit of Shipton La (4229m) which takes few hours. The pass offers the superb Mountain View. After crossing the pass we will make our way through the Rhododendron forest to the beautiful valley of Dobato. Overnight in Dobato

Today after having breakfast we will Leave Dobato behind us the trail steeply descends through the Rhododendron Forest of Barun River. Following the River we will arrive to our high pasture campsite in Yangri Kharka which is situated in the base of the valley. Overnight in Yangri Kharka

We will have our early morning breakfast and start our today’s trek. Today we will follow the river upstream and witness the regal vista of Himalayas and we will trek to an alpine meadow of Lengmale Kharka. The trial offers a picture of noticeable rise of the Mountains as we begin to ascend up. Overnight in Lengmale Kharka

After breakfast ,we will pass the Barun Valley and start the climb through Yak pastures and boulder fields in a complete high alpine environment to Sherson. From Sherson the southern flank of Mt Makalu and Barun glacier comes into view. Overnight in Sherson

Today is a long day to trek so, we will have breakfast and climb to Makalu Base Camp for the breathtaking views on the way. Return back to the campsite have lunch and climb to 5000m on the ridge to the north for the views of Makalu, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Everest and many other and finally trek back to Sherson. Overnight in Sherson

Today after having breakfast we will descend down to the valley following Barun River. We will have the last glimpses of Makalu today. On our way we will pass through different villages which finally take us to Yangri Kharka. Overnight in Yangri Kharka

After leaving behind Yangri Kharka behind the trail descends through the small bushes of Rhododendron for around 4hours. Later the path goes uphill through the jungle all the way to Dobato. Overnight in Dobato

After having breakfast we will retrace our path back, on the way we will re-cross the Shipton La pass and descend down to Kauma . We will walk through beautiful rhododendron and fir forests on our way to Kauma Kharka. Overnight in Kauma.

We will have our breakfast and start our today trek. Today we will descend through hilly terrain where at some places we will have a steep trial. After a long walk we will finally arrive at Tashigaon. It is a Sherpa village. Overnight at Tashigaon.

After having our breakfast we will retrace our steps back to Seduwa. We will exit Makalu Barun National park and after that we will descend down to Barun River. On our way to Sedwa we will pass through different villages and forests. Overnight at Seduwa.

Today after breakfast we will start our trek. Our trial goes ups and down today. We will start the day with a steep descend to Arun River Valley. Crossing the River the trail goes uphill through a ridge which takes us to Num. Overnight in Num

Today we will start trek early in the morning through the ridge which takes us to Chichila. From here we will catch a ride back to Tumlingtar. Overnight in Tumlingtar

Early in the morning we will catch a scenic flight back to Kathmandu over the Himalayas. After having lunch we will have plenty of time for sightseeing and shopping around Thamel area.

A representative from Nepal Trekking Trial will transfer you to the airport before two hours from your flight with lots of a hope of seeing you again in the future.
