UPPER MUSTANG TIJI FESTIVAL SPECIAL TREK

Upper Mustang Tiji festival trek is cultural trekking in Upper Mustang, the country of ‘Lo’ community. Upper Mustang Tiji festival trek is a three-day ritual known as “The chasing of the Demons” and it is centered on the Tiji myth. Tiji tells the story of a deity named Dorje Jono who must battle against his demon father to save the Kingdom of Mustang from destruction.

The festival is one of the most important festivals of Mustang region. The three days festival is celebrated at the beginning of harvest season to chase away demons. This festival is celebrated by wearing their colorful traditional dresses, chanting their auspicious prayers and dancing which enacts all the trouble caused by demons. This trek allows you to experience the cultural rituals of the people living in Mustang region and also explore the uncommon beauty of the region.
